A car park in Peterborough is in such desperate need of repair, a city councillor has called for action to be taken immediately.
Fletton and Woodston city councillor Andy Coles has urged the company that manages the carpark, MAPPS, to repair the potholes to aid visitors parking at the shopping centre, Peterborough Today reported.
“It’s a really poor state of repair and I have been in contact with the company responsible for the repair to ask for an update on repairs. I have yet to receive a comment,” he told the newspaper.
The holes at the Valley Park centre in Woodston have previously been patched up, but they have worsened once again.
To avoid hitting them and damaging their vehicles, drivers are being forced to use the other side of the road.
The car park is also used by visitors to the local GP surgery, nursery, shops and takeaways. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly dangerous for drivers and pedestrians to use.
Despite the local authority having been given funding in the past to repair potholes on local roads, the carpark is privately owned. Therefore, it does not have responsibility for the potholes.
Wychavon District Council recently revealed plans to spend £800,000 on carpark repairs in local areas, including Droitwich, Pershore, Evesham and Broadway.
The Bromsgrove Advertiser reported the amendments could take the local authority three years to complete.
Potholes are a common problem in the UK, particularly in carparks. While they are frequently covered up, to fix them for the long-term, concrete repair specialists in the UK are required.
