A carpark in Bradford is set to be given an update over the summer.
Sections of each level of the Broadway Shopping Centre’s car park will be closed off from August while work is being carried out.
Every storey will be upgraded, with the refurbishment to be completed one level at a time, The Telegraph And Argus reported.
Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said each level will temporarily be closed off to the public and diversions will be put in place for both pedestrians and drivers.
Cordoning off the areas will ensure the contractors working on the repairs are kept safe from motorists.
The refurbishments will include energy-efficient LED lights and new paintwork, among other things.
Mr Ward stated: “We’re making the most of this opportunity and using this time to also refresh the paintwork across all levels and ramp areas, making it easier for our customers to navigate.”
This comes after it was revealed Bradford’s NCP car park will be demolished to be replaced by a new entrance way for Bradford Interchange station, the newspaper reported.
The council purchased the car park in 2017 for £4.15 million, with the intention of undergoing a multi-million pound city centre transformation over the next few years.
It is thought the project will be financed by the Transforming Cities Fund from the government.
Work will begin on the initiative imminently, and the local authority hopes it will be completed within 18 months.
Leader of Bradford Council Susan Hinchcliffe said the transformation of the station entranceway could make the city “one of the most attractive, accessible and dynamic city centres in the country”.
